Description:
The Department of Agriculture and Markets is seeking an Intern to work within the Division of Agricultural Development to assist in developing the Forestry and Wood Products program. This Intern will work with the Agricultural Development team to advance the development, implementation, and communication of the New York Wood Products Development Council. Duties include coordinating Forestry and Timber Sports Day at the NY State Fair, conducting research and assisting in organizing a forum to identify impediments and outline actions to support the growth of domestic markets for NY wood products, working with Ag in the Classroom, FFA, and other organizations to attract young people into pursuing educational opportunities and careers in forestry, working with the marketing team and various stakeholders to set standards for the New York State Grown and Certified program, and working with partner agencies to update website content.
Forestry interest and degree concentration preferred!
This internship is paid $14.02 per hour and requires 37.5 hours per week. Work hours are flexible between 8:00 a.m.-5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. This position may require some travel within New York State.
