We are an established evergreen tree farm which sells choose and cut Christmas trees as well as squash and pumpkins during the fall season. We are looking for an intern that can assist/learn the day to day operations of running a tree farm. Activities include fitting the ground/fields, transplanting seedlings, pruning and tree preparation and problem solving the issues that affect a tree farm. Occasional activites may center around the squash/pumpkin fields and their development and growth.
Lastly, the farm is in the midst of a dynamic change/conversion to include pasture raised livestock and poultry on the farm and in need of assistance that can be used for future planning. Projects to include soil and drainage mapping the entire farm, preparation and fitting fields, fence installation and pasture preparation and development. Exploring the use of ruminants in tree farms.
Desired qualifications:
A student of soil science, horticulture or farm management with an interest in evergreens/silvaculture and local family farms.
